There is something about the combination that I really love — the boldness of the orange against the calm white, and the way the layered base gives the lamp a strong sculptural presence while still feeling balanced and harmonious.
As light moves across the different surfaces, the colours soften and shift, revealing new details and changing the character of the piece throughout the day.

Dutch is playful, warm and expressive, but at its heart it is still about balance — bringing colour, material, form and light together as one object.
No. 01
Austin Series
Shape and colour are always at the heart of my work. Most designs evolve slowly as I search for the right balance between form, colour and material. This lamp was different. From the first sketch, it felt complete.

No. 02
Austin Series

​No. 02 has a slightly different mood. The flowing layers still have the gentle movement of the Austin form, but the colours bring something more playful to it.
As you move around the lamp, one colour gives way to another, and the shape seems to change with it. In the light, the colours become softer and deeper, revealing little differences in the texture and making the lamp feel almost different from one moment to the next.
Big Series

The Big Series began with a form I was immediately drawn to. There is something about its proportions and flowing shape that feels balanced and harmonious.
I became curious about how far I could take the form through colour, textile and texture. Each version developed its own mood, with each change creating a surprisingly different character.
I love the way the materials, colour and light come together, while the shape remains at the heart of the piece.
Blue
Big Series
There is something about the Blue that I find hard to resist. The flowing shape, with its gentle curves and balanced proportions, has a quiet presence that I really like.
I wanted the colour to travel across the entire form, allowing the shape and textured fabric to become almost one. As the light changes, subtle shifts in colour, shadow and texture appear, and the character of the lamp changes with it.
Yellow​
Big Series
I've always been drawn to neutral colours, so this lamp marked a departure from my usual palette. The yellow brought a warmth and richness that surprised me. I love how the light changes the colour, sometimes making it soft and warm, at other moments much more vibrant and expressive.
Gaskin
Big Series
This version has a quieter, more restrained character within the series. Its dense weave allows only a gentle glow to escape.
The result is a lamp with a calm presence, where the emphasis remains on shape and material as much as the light itself.
Orange
Big Series
Orange has a warmth and energy that I find hard to ignore. I wanted to let the colour move through the whole form, creating a strong, almost glowing presence without losing the calm balance of the shape.
The lighter textile softens the intensity, while the light brings out different tones and textures as it moves across the surface. It feels bold and playful, but still very much at home in the form.
Oldfield
Big Series
Named after the master gardener in Beverly Nichols’ Merry Hall, Oldfield is a study in restraint. A man of few words, he let his work speak for itself. I wanted the same feeling in this lamp — a quiet form, enriched by texture and pattern, that reveals itself gradually.
Red
Small Series
I like the idea that a familiar form doesn't have to stay the same. By changing the colour, these smaller versions take on their own personality while remaining part of the same design.
